What is a Twitch Emote?
What is a Twitch Emote?
A Twitch emote is a small image used in chat to express reactions, emotions, or inside jokes. Streamers upload custom emotes that their subscribers and followers can use during live streams. Emotes are one of the most visible parts of a channel’s brand — unique designs help your community stand out across Twitch, YouTube, and Discord.
Our premade emotes are ready to upload with no design work needed. Each emote set includes all required sizes for Twitch, YouTube, and Discord. Browse free emotes to try before you buy, or explore all stream overlays and packages for matching emotes, alerts, and overlays in every style.

Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What are Twitch emotes?
Twitch emotes are small images used in chat to express reactions and emotions. Every Twitch channel can upload custom emotes that subscribers and followers use during live streams. Emotes are also used on YouTube and Discord. Our premade emote sets are ready to upload — no design work required.
Do I need to be a Twitch Affiliate to use emotes?
You need Twitch Affiliate or Partner status to upload subscriber emotes. However, you can still use follower emotes (available to all streamers) and third-party emotes through BTTV and 7TV. Our emotes work with all emote types — subscriber, follower, and third-party.
How do I upload emotes to Twitch?
Go to your Twitch Creator Dashboard, navigate to Viewer Rewards > Emotes, and click the upload button for each emote slot. Select the emote image file and Twitch will automatically resize it. Our emote packs include all required sizes (28×28, 56×56, 112×112) so every slot is covered.
What sizes do Twitch emotes need to be?
Twitch requires emotes in three sizes: 28×28, 56×56, and 112×112 pixels. Each size is used at different zoom levels in chat. Our emote sets include all three sizes pre-exported, so you can upload them directly without resizing.
Can I use these emotes on YouTube and Discord?
Yes. Our emotes are compatible with Twitch, YouTube, and Discord. YouTube uses 48×48 and 112×112 emote sizes. Discord emoji upload accepts any image up to 256KB. The files included in each pack cover all platforms.
Are your Twitch emotes free?
We offer both free and premium emote sets. Browse the Freebies collection for free emotes that include all required sizes for Twitch, YouTube, and Discord. Premium emote packs offer more variety, additional expressions, and unique art styles.
