What Is a Twitch Offline Banner?
A Twitch offline banner (also called an offline screen) is the 1920x1080 image that displays on your channel when you're not streaming. Instead of showing a blank player, it gives visitors a reason to stick around — your schedule, your socials, and a sense of who you are as a streamer. It's often the first thing new viewers see when they discover your channel, so it's worth making it count. All the banners above are free to download and ready to use. If you want a full channel makeover — overlays, alerts, panels, and offline screens that all match — check out our twitch overlays and full stream packages. You can also grab free Twitch panels or browse Discord profile pictures to complete your setup.
How to add an Offline Banner on Twitch?
- Log in to Twitch
- Click on your profile picture and press the Settings button
- Go to the Channel and Videos tab
- Click the Brand tab, scroll to the Video Player Banner section and press the Update button
- Click the Brand tab, scroll to the Video Player Banner section and press the Update button
- Click on Upload a Photo and choose your Offline Banner
- Woohoo, your banner is uploaded!
Frequently Asked Questions
What size should a Twitch offline banner be?
The recommended size is 1920 x 1080 pixels (16:9 aspect ratio). This matches Full HD resolution and ensures your banner displays clearly across all devices. The maximum file size is 10MB, and Twitch accepts JPEG, PNG, and GIF formats — though JPEG or PNG are recommended for best quality.
Can I use animated GIFs as my offline banner?
No. While Twitch technically accepts GIF files, they will only display as a static image (the first frame). Animated offline screens are not currently supported. If you upload a GIF, make sure the first frame looks good on its own.
What should I include on my offline banner?
The most effective offline banners include your streaming schedule so viewers know when to come back, your social media handles (Discord, Twitter, Instagram), and your channel branding. Keep important elements centered — Twitch overlays recent video thumbnails and CTAs near the edges that can block your design. Less is more: your banner should communicate at a glance.
Are these offline banners really free?
Yes, every offline banner on this page is completely free to download and use on your Twitch channel. No signup, no watermarks, no hidden fees. If you want a cohesive look across your entire channel — matching overlays, alerts, panels, and offline screens — check out our full stream packages.
