What is a Webcam Overlay?
A webcam overlay is a decorative frame or border that sits around your camera feed during a live stream. Instead of a plain rectangular webcam, a webcam overlay adds a styled border, label, or animated effect that matches the rest of your stream layout. They are sometimes called webcam borders, webcam frames, or cam overlays.
Our webcam overlays work with OBS Studio, Streamlabs, and StreamElements. Just drag the overlay file into your scene and position it over your camera source. Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a webcam overlay?
A webcam overlay is a decorative border or frame placed around your camera feed during a stream. It replaces the plain rectangular webcam look with a styled frame that matches your stream theme. Webcam overlays are added in OBS Studio or Streamlabs as an image source layered on top of your webcam.
How do I add a webcam overlay in OBS Studio?
In OBS Studio, add an Image Source (or Media Source for animated overlays) to your scene. Select the webcam overlay file, then drag and resize it to sit exactly over your webcam source. Make sure the overlay source is above the webcam source in the source list so it appears on top.
What size should a webcam overlay be?
Most webcam overlays are designed for a 16:9 webcam feed within a 1920×1080 stream canvas. The overlay frame itself is typically around 400–600 pixels wide, but our overlays can be resized freely in OBS Studio or Streamlabs to fit your layout.
What is the difference between animated and static webcam overlays?
Static webcam overlays are single images (usually .png) that frame your camera with a fixed border. Animated webcam overlays use .webm video files that add movement — glowing edges, particle effects, or pulsing borders. Animated overlays use a Media Source in OBS instead of an Image Source.
Do your webcam overlays work with Streamlabs and StreamElements?
Yes. Our webcam overlays work with OBS Studio, Streamlabs Desktop, and StreamElements. The image and video files are standard formats (.png and .webm) that work in any streaming software supporting image or media sources.
Are your webcam overlays free?
We offer both free and premium webcam overlays. Browse the Freebies collection for free webcam borders and frames. Premium webcam overlays start at $5 and include animated effects, multiple color options, and matching assets from our stream overlay packages.
